Fully aligned with Basketball Australia junior regulations and the U12 βNo Zoneβ policy, this 45-minute defensive clinic builds a rock-solid team defensive foundation. Players learn disciplined individual Man-to-Man defense, sharp perimeter closeouts, aggressive wing denial, and collective split line help-and-recover principles.
The Routine
- Closeout Technique Warmup (8 mins): defensive-closeouts-drill - Sprinting out from the split line to the perimeter, chopping feet into a low stance, and contesting shooters with high hands.
- Wing Denial Pressure (10 mins): denial-defense-on-wing - Playing one pass away, maintaining the ball-you-man triangle with one arm in the passing lane to deny easy perimeter entries.
- Help & Recover Rotations (12 mins): help-and-recover-drill - Setting up straddling the split line in help position, sliding across to stunt against key penetrations, and sprinting back to recover to the wing.
- 4v4 Shell Defense Mastery (15 mins): shell-drill-4v4-positioning - Running the quintessential 4v4 shell drill under Basketball Australia junior guidelines, cycling through ball pressure, denial, and split line help on every pass reversal.
